Both been trading for over 30 years. Under the same ownership, both companies came together in 2013 to combine resource and enhance their overall service offering.

Managing director, Kerry Holden, says ‘Prior to the acquisition of Mediascene, Mailbird was almost purely focussed on mail production. Operating out of London, we were super agile and technologically driven. We were growing at over 30% year-on-year and had a scalable business model, but took the decision that scaling the business in London was not perhaps the way forward. I wanted to acquire a business that had service offerings that Mailbird didn’t – and vice versa. Enter Mediascene – a company with a well-established track record in direct marketing that had the capability to do its own development.

‘It’s worked really well. The team are fantastic, I can’t speak highly enough of them.

‘Both companies share the same resources, whether that be people, systems or equipment. At the core of this is the way we utilise technology. I can honestly say that for our size, we are one of the most innovative players in the market, whether that be with regards to our own business processes, or the actual services we offer. I don’t believe that technology driven solutions should be a luxury reserved for brands with big budgets. It should be accessible to all.

‘In our industry, you need a genuine unique selling point. It’s not good enough to say that you provide a highly personalised service, or that you have accreditations coming out of your ears. These are baseline requirements – of course we provide that. Our clients want – and expect – to work with a company that can be an extrinsic part of their organisation; that understands their business and provides strategic insight and tailored solutions to match. A genuine solutions provider; one that understands the challenges our customers face. That is what we offer.’
